Each wine zone on a 427 has its own refrigeration, so a lone warm zone can be its fan, its sensor or its sealed system. Readings decide.

The drawers run from their own control in the top drawer, apart from the wine zones, so the fault is on the drawer side.
Why a 427 is not like a newer column
Sub-Zero gave the 400-series wine units a refrigeration system per zone, so the two zones can fail independently. Where one system feeds both zones, a lone warm zone usually means the cold is shared out badly; on a 427 it can also be that zone’s own system. Nobody should guess which before the readings are in.
The condenser breathes from the front, low down. A rug or a panel across the grille warms both zones slowly.

Asked about the 427 / 427R
- Do the two drawers on a 427R hold different temperatures?
- No. Sub-Zero sets both refrigerated drawers of a 427R from one control in the top drawer, anywhere from 34°F to 45°F, and they run together at that setting. The wine zones above are set on their own. One drawer warm and the other cold is a fault; ring Sub-Zero Repair Woodinville on (425) 321-3414.
- Why does a 427 have two sets of temperature keys?
- Each wine zone has its own WARMER and COLDER keys and its own reading, because each is controlled separately, and on the 400 series each also has its own refrigeration. They left the factory at 45°F on top and 55°F below, and either zone accepts anything from 38°F to 65°F.
